How is a machine needle used?

With machine needles, the ear through which the thread must be passed is located near the point, i.e. at the bottom. The needle is attached to the top of the sewing machine. It has a flat side and should be screwed on tightly. It is an important part of your sewing machine, as you use it to work the fabric and it can make the difference between the success and failure of your sewing project! 

Universal Needles 

Fortunately, there are universal needles. Think of them as a standard needle that you can use to sew different types of fabrics, such as stretchy fabrics, synthetics and woven fabrics. 

You can therefore use a universal needle in many situations. However, there are also more specialised needles for specific fabrics:

1. universal sewing machine needle for any fabric

2. stretch sewing machine needle for stretchy fabrics

3. denim or jeans sewing machine needle for denim and imitation leather

4. jersey or ballpoint sewing machine needle for knitted fabrics

5. leather needle for genuine leather

6. microtex sewing machine needle for delicate fabrics
